Intermediate Swim Fitness
Cuddle Core™: A great instructor aptly named this movement. It is nothing more than hugging the EZ Swimmer® and using your swim kick to move through the water. You will note you are not vertical as in jogging; you are horizontal as in swimming. Your body will be diagonal – very similar to easy swimming with a noodle.
Water Push-ups: Upper body strength is so critical. Push-ups are the classic exercise but oftentimes very difficult for sedentary clients. We recommend beginners start with the wall push-ups on land with the EZ Swimmer® just to feel the movement of the exercise and the comfortable grip of the fitness tool. For your intermediate clients, we recommend trying just 5 water push-ups to gauge your clients’ upper body strength. This exercise movement introduces them to the amount of resistance the EZ Swimmer® offers them. Remind them that progressive weights build bulk; resistance exercises simply build replace fat with muscle, increasing their metabolism.
Do not lock the arms. At the first sign elbow pain, avoid this movement for several days in order to prevent a serious injury.
Depending on your physical structure, the narrow grip of the push-up may cause wrist pain. Seek to move your grip further apart.
